Australian Department of Education announced,
starting from 1 July 2023, students who have completed certain qualifications in areas of verified skill shortages will have their visas granted extended from:
• Two years to four years for select Bachelor degrees
• Three years to five years for select Masters degrees
• Four years to six years for all doctoral qualifications
The indicative list released by the Department of Education includes qualifications in healthcare, teaching, engineering, ICT, and agriculture.
Eligible Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) holders will be able to apply for an extension of two years from 1 July 2023. For existing 485 visa holders whose visas expire before that date, they can apply for a Temporary Activity visa (subclass 408) under the Australian Government endorsed events (COVID-19 Pandemic event) stream for a 2-year visa instead of the usual one-year visa, provided they meet the standard criteria. Finally, students who havestudied in regional areas will also be able to apply for a further 485 visa.
